Update May 2009

Following the consultation events held in September and October 2008, a planning application was submitted to London Borough of Richmond upon Thames in March for the redevelopment of the former Sorting Office site, next to the National Archives off Bessant Drive in Kew. A number of changes were made to the scheme prior to submission in direct response to comments received during consultation, including enlarging the central courtyard space to over half an acre.

The proposals now include:

• 111 flats
• A residential care home
• Commercial / office space
• Landscaping improvements
• Parking for 154 cars
• Central courtyard open space
